"Experienced Cutting Edge Dairy Nutrition"

Staff
Jim Smucker, President

Jim Smucker has been involved in dairy farming his whole
life, growing up on a dairy farm near Dalton, Ohio. He was
employed by a local feed mill for 6 years, and then in 1991
became co-owner of Shady View Farms.
While employing a hands-on approach to dairy farm
management and developing a keen eye for observation, Jim
enjoyed much success in dairy farming. Shady View Farms was able to consistently approach a 23,000 lb. RHA (2xmilking), under 200,000 SCC, excellent heard health (less than 4% of herd experiencing a health problem annually).
In 2003 he started Top-Notch Dairy Consulting to provide not only dairy nutrition, but
also full service dairy consulting. Jim is very well informed and knowledgeable in many
areas, including nutrition, milking systems, stray voltage, water issues, soil balancing and business management.
In 2011, Jim joined Dr. Pitzen and Associates, Inc., as part of his continued commitment to doing things better, with better nutrition and unique products. In 2012, Jim became part of the ownership of Dr. Pitzen and Associates, Inc., to help carry our company into the future decades.
Jim believes in doing things right, and that through hard work and perserverance, by the grace of God, anything can be accomplished.
He firmly believes that success is never an accident, but rather a blessing from the Lord for being honest, dedicated and hard working.
Dan Pitzen, Ph. D., Vice President

Dr. Pitzen and Associates provides micro-nutrient and nutraceutical products and nutritional services primarily to dairy and beef farms and hay producers. The company was started by Dan Pitzen, Ph.D. in 2002 to provide some of the popular products and nutrition services he developed during a prior 22 year period. A major portion of the business is supporting on-the-farm consulting and sales by associates in several states. The company is high tech but functions with low operating and sales costs in order to bring you products at reasonable prices. No shipping or delivery charges are added to orders.
During his career, Dr. Pitzen has gained a good reputation working as a dairy nutrition efficiency specialist by helping dairy producers get both top milk production from their cows while maintaining or improving health and fertility and achieve high dollar returns over feed costs. One 70 cow herd using his ration balancing advice, increased its production on 2X milking from 45 lb. per cow daily (13,421 RHA) to over 100 lbs. daily year around (33,325 RHA) over a 14 year period with a feed efficiency of 2 lb. milk per 1 lb. of feed dry matter consumption.
Dr. Pitzen also has training and experience with beef nutrition having worked as a beef nutritionist in Australia in the past.
